A Guided Tour of New Art on the Second Avenue Subway
Tour led by Amy Wanggaard Hausmann '90 and
Margaret Mathews-Berenson '68

11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Join us to learn about extraordinary artwork recently installed in four new stations of New York City's Second Avenue Subway. Amy Wanggaard Hausmann '90, senior curator at the New York Transit Museum and former deputy director of MTA Arts & Design, and Margaret Mathews-Berenson, '68, independent curator and selection panelist for the 63rd Street Station, will discuss the selection, design, and fabrication of these remarkable public art installations by renowned artists Sarah Sze, Chuck Close, Vik Muniz, and Jean Shin.

Meet in the Second Avenue/96th Street Station (Q Train). Please enter via escalator at the corner of 96th Street and Second Avenue.

The tour is 1 1/2 hours in length and will conclude at 63rd Street. The​n ​move on to lunch at 128 Bistro at the Society of Illustrators (128 East 63rd Street). Following lunch guests may tour the museum​ and view Original Art, an annual exhibit celebrating the fine art of children's book illustration​.​

Cost is ​$40 per person and includes a single ride MetroCard for entrance to the subway station and lunch (choice of chicken Francese, cobb salad or fusilli with grilled vegetables).
