FYC/Chicago Knox Club at Argonne Laboratory

Join Knox alumni and friends for a full day of lifelong learning at Argonne National Laboratory.

Start the day with a welcome by Interim Laboratory Director Paul K. Kearns and Knox College President Teresa Amott. Tour the Visualization Lab with experts in the field and see the Mira supercomputer. Hear from Knox alumni who are currently working at Argonne, view the grounds via the comfort of an Argonne bus, and then tour the Advanced Photon Source–one of the most complex machines in the world–and learn how researchers at Argonne are making discoveries in almost every area of science.

Cost for this event is just $28 and includes lunch, tours of the Visualization Lab and the computing facility, and a short bus tour of the grounds.

Because Argonne is a controlled-access facility, please note the following safety requirements:

Attire requirements: long pants and flat, closed-toe shoes; no sandals or sleeveless shirts.
A state or federal photo I.D., such as driver's license or passport, is required to obtain a visitor pass.

For Non-U.S. Citizens Only
Non-U.S. citizens, including legal permanent residents, need to register, using their name as it appears on their photo I.D., via the Argonne Visitor Registration page. This will need to be submitted no later than June 17 due to the approval process that can take up to seven to ten business days. They would also need to scan and e-mail copies of their INS documents, such as permanent resident card or passport and visa, and any other supporting documents, if applicable. Any documents or questions can be e-mailed to Pat Canaday at canaday@anl.gov.

Directions
The Laboratory is located at 9700 South Cass Avenue, Lemont, IL. From I-55 take exit 273A (South Cass Avenue) to Northgate Road (main entrance); then follow signage to the TCS Conference Center. Northgate Road is approximately 1/4 mile from I-55. (Do not to follow GPS once on Cass Avenue, as it usually takes people to an old entrance further south.) Once there, turn into the Information Center parking lot and proceed to the TCS Conference Center. Do not drive to the guard gate; there will be signage for our group.
